Aurora Mizutani Blog
Some publishing houses begin with a business plan.
Ajala Legacy Forum Publishing House began with a question.
Who was Olabisi Ajala — really?
Growing up, Aurora Mizutani lived in the long shadow of her father’s legend. To the world, Moshood Adisa Olabisi Ajala was the charismatic Nigerian globetrotter who traveled across continents, met world leaders, appeared in Hollywood films, and documented his journeys in the acclaimed book An African Abroad. His life represented possibility, movement, and the courage to cross borders at a time when few could.
But behind the stories and photographs were gaps, contradictions, and unanswered questions. Those questions would eventually shape Aurora’s life and career.
Aurora Mizutani was born in Nigeria and moved to Italy at the age of three with her mother and sisters. Her childhood and education unfolded across Italy and the United Kingdom before her journey eventually led her to Japan. Growing up between cultures, languages, and identities instilled a deep fascination with storytelling, history, and the power of personal narrative.
Her path was not linear. Like many writers, Aurora’s journey included detours, challenges, and reinvention. Life experiences pushed her back toward education and writing, where she discovered the power of words as both expression and investigation.
Her first published work, the illustrated children’s book Little Boy and Mr Scary Snake (2012), marked the beginning of her professional writing career. From there, her work expanded into memoir, travel writing, blogging, journalism, and independent publishing.
Over time, Aurora realized that her own story and her father’s story were deeply intertwined.
This realization led to the publication of her memoir An African Abroad: The Memoirs of La Mora Data, followed by a growing body of work examining identity, travel, and global history.
Her research gradually evolved into a deeper investigative project focused on the life and legacy of Olabisi Ajala. Years of archival research, family documents, and historical study culminated in her most ambitious work to date:
Olabisi Ajala: CIA & MI6 Files Classified // Eyes Only // Case: AJALA–1950–1970 – Declassified Report: A Daughter’s Investigation into Olabisi Ajala’s Secret Passports and Shadow Networks.
This work represents Aurora’s commitment to preserving overlooked histories and questioning official narratives through independent research.
The creation of Ajala Legacy Forum Publishing House was a natural next step.
Aurora envisioned a platform dedicated not only to preserving her father’s legacy, but also to supporting writers, journalists, and researchers who share a passion for truth-seeking, storytelling, and global perspectives.
The publishing house was built on three guiding principles:
• Preserving historical narratives
• Encouraging independent voices
• Crossing intellectual and cultural borders
Today, Aurora works as a journalist, author, and publisher based in Japan, where she continues to research, write, and collaborate internationally.
Ajala Legacy Forum Publishing House is more than an imprint.
It is a continuation of a journey that began decades ago with a man who refused to stay in one place — and a daughter who refused to stop asking questions.
The mission remains simple:
to create space for stories that travel beyond borders.
Aurora Mizutani not only publishes but also founded SILK Kimono Love, an international company specializing in distributing Original Vintage Silk Kimono globally.
